Guidelines to Follow when Buying and Installing a Portable Indoor Heater

There are certain guidelines to follow when purchasing as well as installing portable indoor heaters. Below are some of them:
o Purchase only the newer models of portable indoor heaters. They should have the current safety features approved by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
o Check if the portable indoor heater has an attached Underwriter’s Laboratory (UL).
o Purchase only thermostatically controlled portable indoor heaters, since they are effective at avoiding the energy waste produced by overheating an individual room.
o Choose a portable indoor heater with the proper size for the room you want to heat. If you are uncertain of when and where to use it since it is portable, it’s better to stick to the portable heater made for an average size of a room. Do not buy oversized portable heaters.
Place the portable indoor heater on an area or level surface not within the foot traffic. Also make sure that the portable indoor heater is away from children and pets or is in an area that are not within the children’s and pet’s reach.
